| A.k.a. massive multiplayer online roleplaying games. At the moment I'm playing Shaiya, a ftp (free to play) fantasy-medieval game that you can download from www.aeriagames.com . It's not bad, although it's still open Beta and there are some bugs in it (and only one server, which makes the game lag at moments). For more details, you can check the site. Video: http://shaiya.aeriagames.com/media/video/1 Images: - My Assassin Vail from the Union of Fury (aka Dark side) - actual character, Fighter (Human) from the Alliance of Light, some levels ago From Aeriagames I also played Last Chaos, which I consider less good than Shaiya, especially because at a medium-high level (such as 30), you need to buy items to have a decent character, items that don't even work all the time... But it's a nice game to play to lose some time. (for some reason, I can't upload LC screenshots ) | |

| I usually stay the hell away from MMORPGs.. the reason for that is that I know that there is a very big chance I will get addicted to them, which will no doubt clash with my schoolwork.. and that is something I cannot use, especially around graduation time Another reason is that I do not have the money to pay monthly fees just top play a game.. and while there are plenty of free mmo's, most of them dont come anywhere near the big ones quality wise.. A nice alternative is Guild Wars though.. You only pay when you buy the game, which means no monthly fees afterwards (yay!) I only have the Nightfall edition, which features a beatifully shaped oriental/middle eastern fantasy world. It kept me going for quite some time and I absolutely LOVE the graphical aspects of the game (your jaw will drop to the ground a LOT while playing) and the atmosphere while the game itself runs smooth as hell. You can meet plenty of players in outposts to organize parties and guilds, after which you can venture out into the wild lands beyond to perform quests and slay lots of vermin. Even though the setup works fine, I stopped playing it, since there is one problem that just keeps occurring.. it gets boring if you're playing for a long time.. basically, the quest types can be divided into three categories: kill stuff, retrieve items and escort somebody.. and while the game designers have tried their very best to make them as versatile as possible, you cant help but notice that you're doing the same things over and over again, albeit in a different setting and with different characters. Another problem is that your player character can't get to a level higher than 20, which can be quite shitty when you are fighting monsters a lot more powerful than you are.. luckily, you can always have a team on your side, but giving them orders is a pain in the butt, so its wise to decide who you want with you where and when.. All and all, the Guild Wars: Nightfall is enjoyable and offers some of the finest visual aspects in MMO-land, but it cant hide the high amount of repetition of the game. | |

| Been playing Perfect World for a while and I think it's the best mmo I played so far. It's got good graphics, characters aren't stuck in a class (for example blademasters can go for pure strenght, use hammers/axes and become great damage dealers or dexterity and use swords/claws; vitality to become tanks), they are entirely customizable (i loved this feature), there are lots of quests for each lvl and they're easy to find, basically till lvl ~40 you can level up based only on your quests; gaining exp is fast enough not to get bored, but slow enough to be decent (it's the first mmo where i get to a 40+ lvl and i'm not bored yet), it's quite easy to make money, the storyline is pretty good and is well completed by the quests; the character's stats are complex; there are many available skills; the map is large enough to explore it without getting bored till lvl 80; guilds can try territory wars, which results in 10 milions per week and per territory owned. There are many +es to this game, I just love it. It gets a full 10 from me. More screenies tomorrow, cause today for some reason it doesn't want to load more. | |
